Acetal, also known as polyoxymethylene (POM), is a high performance engineering polymer. Because of its high strength, modulus, and resistance to impact and fatigue, it is used as a weight-saving metal replacement. Acetal is also characterized by a low coefficient of friction and good wear properties – especially in wet environments. Because Acetal absorbs minimal amounts of moisture, its physical properties remain constant in a variety of environments. It is available in both homopolymer (Delrin®) and copolymer (Celcon®) formulations. Available Products: Delrin® – homopolymer acetal; offers slightly higher mechanical properties Delrin® AF – combination of PTFE fibers uniformly dispersed in Delrin acetal resin Celcon® – copolymer acetal; offers better chemical resistance |
