Butyrate is classified as one of the cellulosic plastics. It is made with cellulose acetate butyrate resin, which is a cellulose ester. Butyrate is recognized as a pliable, machinable and durable plastic. It has proven to be ideal for many applications because it is so convenient to work with. The material also processes well at lower temperatures and has low specific heat and low thermal conductivity.
