Polyamide-imide (PAI) is a melt processible, amorphous engineering thermoplastic, typically synthesized through the condensation of aromatic diamines and trimellitic anhydride. Polyamide-imides are characterized by high strength and stiffness and can maintain structural integrity in continuous use at temperatures up to 500ºF. PAI can be excellent bearing material, but performance is increased substantially by the introduction of solid lubricants. It is also resistant to radiation damage. UV resistance of unfilled PAI is acceptable for many applications. The material does absorb moisture in humid environments. Available PAI Products: Torlon®
